Now I was sitting on my desk at school, looking out the window, bored once again. The teacher was talking about advanced Calculus; joy. Something I already knew.
He called me up to the front because it didn't seem like I was paying attention, which was right, in part. I did the problem he assigned quickly, and went back to my seat, ignoring the giggling and winking girls in the corner. Then the bell rang, I went outside to my locker, only to find my brother leaning against it. "..Off."
"Man, I hate my classes" He sighed, pushing himself off my locker. "Not as much as I do, I'm sure. I already know everything they talk about, so it's quite boring" I said as I put my books in place, noticing my eyes had turned to copper. "Someone's warm."
"I will never understand this weather. Today is warm, but yesterday was cold?" I muttered. "Global Warming~" Tsunaro sang. "One more reason this world is going down."
"Yeah...So...Have you found an angel yet, big bro?" He asked me. "Not yet. No human I look at is as pure as an angel" I said as we appeared at our house. Then I took the key of the car that was parked in the garage out of my pocket.
"Where are you going?" He asked me. "To get some air" I answered him. "Mind giving me a ride?"
"Where to?" I asked, looking up at him. "I'm going to the cool bar that's closely out of town. You're going around that route, right? Well, could you drop me off on your way to the forest?" Tsunaro asked me. "How do you know I'm going to the forest?"
"I'm your brother. You always go to the forest when you're in this mood" Tsunaro said. "What mood?" I asked. "The deep-thinking mood. Let's just go, they'll close the place on us!"
He pulled me to the car, tossing the keys at me. "You know you've been able to drive since four years ago, right?" I asked, looking up at him. "And you've been able to drive since seven years ago! C'mon, big bro, don't be a party-pooper!"
I sighed, turning the car on as Tsunaro came in. "I'm still saying we could have gotten a Ferrari..." He complained. "And I'm still saying you'll go to school on bus if you don't shut up."
Kiyane and Myralein walked into the garage. "And where do you think you're going...?" Kiyane asked. "I'm going to the forest and he's going to the bar."
"Nice going, bro" Tsunaro hissed, annoyed. "I'm not good at lying" I lied, shrugging. "A bar? Shouldn't you wait at least one more year for that, Tsunaro?"
"Aw, c'mon. What do I look like, a human? Besides, there's always pretty darn hot girls to have sex with and then to feed on!" Tsunaro said, thrilled. "Gee, you're so discrete about it" Myralein said, scowling at him. "Oh, did I say that aloud? Shit!"
"Watch your language, Tsunaro" Myralein warned. "Hey, I'm not ten years old anymore!" Tsunaro said. "Can we go already?"
"Yeah, yeah!" Tsunaro said. "Don't eat any more souls, Tsunaro. You've had enough for today" Kiyane said. "And Takeru."
"Yes, Myralein?" I asked, looking at her. "Drive safe, okay?" She asked me, smiling a little. I kept looking at her, then nodded, smiling a little as well.
"Don't worry about it, Myralein. I'm a devil. I'm not easily killed" I said, starting the car once again. Then we left. Tsunaro was playing around with the AC and the heater, laughing.
"Tsunaro. Knock it off, you'll break the stupid thing" I said. "Sorry, bro, I just like your color-changing eyes and hair. Cold; gray. Hot; copper. Warm; bright-brown. Super cold; pale blue. Super hot; blazed amber" Tsunaro said, changing the temperature, looking at me. "Grrn, knock it off!"
I turned the heater off, and my hair and eyes turned black. "Woow. No specific temperature; black" Tsunaro whispered. "Will you cut it out already?!"
"Cloudy; dark gray. Windy; light gray. Rainy; dark-brown. Sunny; blond and yellow. Close to monster form; red. You're amazing, Takeru! I haven't met anyone with the ability to dye their hair and their eyes so easily with just the changing weather and temperature" Tsunaro said. "Yes, yes, I'm really incredible. Now, how about we stop talking about the annoying ability I can't even control?" I asked. "Man. Wish I had it...So cool..."
"Let's talk about something else, shall we? School things, for example" I said, he pursed his lips. "I hate it. Because those girls don't know what I am, they keep flirting with me!" Tsunaro complained. "Not the kind of school thing I was talking about, but, guess it'll do. That's very interesting, but predictable."
"You and your sarcasm. C'mon, don't play dumb with me, bro" Tsunaro said. "What do you mean?" I asked. "I know there are lots of fangirls drooling for you. At least five juniors, six seniors in your class that have crushes on you, plus three or four sophomores in my class, and, oh, most of the freshman class."
"Freshmen? Are you serious? I was only aware of the seniors" I muttered. "That's because you don't talk to the other grades, you barely talk to anyone at all. That makes it about twenty-six girls that have fallen for you" Tsunaro said, making a slightly disgusted face. "Twenty six humans that have fallen for a devil. That is so absurd..."
"And how do you feel about them?" Tsunaro asked, I shrugged. "I don't feel any connection to any of them, I hardly know them. I despise them all" I said. "Ooh, that's cold. Join the club of heart-breakers. I hate all those girls, though they do have their good stuff, especially if you're short on time to do your ridiculous homework, or if you just need some fun...But, there, this one..."
"Oh? I thought you said you hated them?" I teased quietly. "She's not human, okay?! She's a vampire" Tsunaro said. "A vampire? Now, that's interesting."
"Cut the sarcasm, will you? Her name is Mako, and before you ask, she comes from the Ketsueki Vampire Clan" Tsunaro said. "Ketsueki...Ah, yes. Father was an acquaintance of that clan. They helped him in many business he had involving large amounts of human blood. She's the youngest in the rank, right?" I asked without looking away from the road. "Yeah."
"I suppose she's better than her younger sister, Minako" I said. "Hell, yeah! Wait a minute, how do you know Minako anyway?" Tsunaro asked. "She's Myralein's friend. They know each other since they were in junior high."
"Hell, you're shitting me!" He said. "I am not. Every once in a while they go out at night and have fun" I said. "At night? How come she's never bitten her? After all, Myralein's half-human."
"They...Appreciate, each other, I guess you could say. A human enough friendship. Myralein is half-devil too. That's something allows them to get along, and not see each other as food, and predator. Besides, vampires would never dare to mess with our family" I said. "Myralein's not our family" Tsunaro said. "She's half our family. Our half-sister."
"Shit, you have no idea how much I wish I could take her to the bed sometimes..." Tsunaro said. "Really?" I asked, glancing at him. "Hell, yeah. Have you ever seen her freakin' hot body? I'm telling you, that's sizzling."
"Not really, I'd just rather concentrate on something more productive, my brother. I like Myralein better with her underwear and clothes on" I said. "Oh, yeah. Your so-called, boring plans. By the way, have you spotted any angel you like yet?" Tsunaro asked. "Not really, again. But just you wait, I will find one, don't worry."
"Oh, I'm not worried about that. However, there is something that does creep me out every so often" He said. I sighed. "And that is?"
"You, bro. You're so determined to finish your plans, even if it takes your own life, aren't you?" He asked, looking at me. "That is correct" I answered. "You can't live your life like that. You need to learn to appreciate it better. Haven't you met anyone who can, you know, help?"
I shrugged, uninterested. "Not at all. You shouldn't really give women so much credit, don't over-estimate them. I'm not as simple and worthless as those humans, Tsunaro. Useless creatures such as the ones that surround us will never please my desires, and will never make me happy in any way" I said sternly. "What about someone like us?"
"(Sigh) I'm already sick of those kinds of women" I said monotonously. "You're annoyingly picky when it comes to women, bro, did you know that? Pickier even than other things, that's a new one" Tsunaro said. I sighed, rolling my eyes to look out my window, "maybe because I don't want women at all."
"...Man, are you boring" Tsunaro said. I looked up. "Yep, that's me. This world is so ugly...So foul..."
"(Chuckle) Says who? He who wants to make it even uglier and fouler?" Tsunaro asked. "Exactly" I answered. "It's not like us to want to contaminate this world, yet reflect about how contaminated it already is, not in our blood...You are weird, my brother."
"I only think about what the rest of my kind would never be able to put a thought to" I said. Tsunaro nodded. "Think about this, Tsunaro. Will my plans really be as easy to fulfill as that? Won't there be a salvation to stop them at all? Just as simple as getting them done? If there will be, what will change? I'm curious. Will a defender eventually stand up for this disgusting world? Because it is nothing the word 'beautiful' could be applied on."
"Um....Um, um, um...Um, there's...Uh...Why, in the name of Hell, do you ask freakin' confusing questions?!" Tsunaro asked. I sighed. "Of course you don't understand a thing. Huh?"
I noticed something glowed in the sky; a star? It did look like it, but it certainly shone brighter than one. Besides, it had only been a couple of minutes since the sun had started to set; there was no way stars appeared during that time.
"What was that supposed to mean?!" Tsunaro asked, annoyed, as I saw the glowing dot approach faster. "Hey, Tsunaro, look at that" I said. "Look at what?!"
The dot was now practically beside us; it was an enormous blast of white light. "At that!" I said, pointing at it. "What the f--What is that?!"
"I don't know! But it's going straight ahead, not to us" I said. "Holy--Look out!" Tsunaro yelled as the light swerved in front of us toward the forest. I was able to stop in time.
We then got out of the car, and watched as the beam of light crashed into the forest. "...Holy crap. What the heck was that?!" Tsunaro asked. "I have no idea."
"Wanna go check it out?" He asked me. I kept staring at the place, and then nodded. We got closer with the car, but then had to go on foot beyond some point because the ground had turned too irregular.
"It was probably a human unicorn" I said. "Sweet. When we find it, can I eat it?" Tsunaro asked. "No. Human unicorns are pets of the angels. If it is a unicorn, then it means an angel must be nearby. We can't be so careless, Tsunaro, we need the angel."
"Right..." He said. We stopped in front of a glowing tree. "Whoa...Um. This is weird."
I looked up, then at the tree. "Hm. A Star Tree" I muttered. "A what?"
"A tree composed of star energy. There aren't many around these parts, considering that this tree is pretty divine to be located in mortal lands..." I said, looking around at the tree. "How can that be?! Seriously, this thing is starting to get extremely weird!" Tsunaro said. What does it mean...?
Suddenly, a young girl appeared in the center of the tree, from the light it produced. Her skin was white; her somewhat short hair a pearl cream. I couldn't see her eyes; they were closed; she was in a fetal position.
"It's a girl" Tsunaro said. "...Suta-" I whispered. "Huh? What did you just say?"
"Huh? What do you mean? I didn't say anything" I said. "How do you know that girl's name?" He asked me. "I don't."
The girl opened her beaming, gentle, lilac eyes. "I am...Suta-" The whisper came from nowhere; I just heard it as clear as if she had said it. Then she started to get out of the tree.
I walked to her, stretching my arms up at her. She took my hands gently, and then fell into my arms softly. It was there when I realized she wasn't wearing any clothes.
Tsunaro caught up with me. "Yep. It's a girl, alright" He said. I froze in place, blushing lightly.
"...And, she's naked" He finished. "That, I did not do it" I clarified. "Oh, she's a kid? That sucks."
"I told you you wouldn't kill her anyway" I told him. "You don't necessarily need to kill after you rape, bro" Tsunaro said. "...Is that really the only thing you can think about?"
"Pretty much. Yeah" Tsunaro answered, and I sighed. "You're hopeless" I told him. "Thank ya!"
"So, what is your name?" I asked the girl, ignoring Tsunaro. "Uh...I..." She said, looking up at me; seeming a little confused. "Don't you know her name?"
"I already told you, I don't!" I screamed at him. "But you called her 'Suta-.' Isn't that her name?" He asked me. "I don't know, is it?"
I turned to look at her when I asked this; she smiled, giggled, and hugged me. "Hey! Get off, you little pest!" I said, pulling her off, slightly blushed. "...Clingy girl."
I gasped, feeling a strong aura. Then I looked up, glaring forward. "What is it?"
"Don't you feel it, Tsunaro? This aura?" I asked, standing up. "Yeah...One of us is coming" Tsunaro said. I narrowed my eyes.
"It doesn't need to be one of us" I said, on guard. "What's up?" Tsunaro asked me, starting to get concerned. "The oncoming demon is an enemy."
"Enemy? What are you--Whoa!" He screamed as we were blown away by an explosion. I held Suta- firmly and fell on my back; she screamed. "Nh, that thing!"
"It's a demon!" Tsunaro said as I grunted, standing up. "No. Really? Did you just figure that on your own?" I asked sarcastically. "I'm not as bright as you are, you know!"
The demon roared, running toward us. "Look out!" I said, jumping out of the demon's reach. "We have to take it out!"
"I'm thinking! Remember it's a demon, so our powers won't affect it much!" I said. "What the hell does it want?!" Tsunaro screamed. "Isn't it obvious?! It wants to devour her!"
I deflected the demon's attack, running. Suta- held tighter to me. I have to get her to safety!
The demon was catching up to us. ""Damn!" I said. "Takeru, get out of the way!"
It was Tsunaro. He was flying to the demon with incredible speed, creating a blast of dark energy in his hands. "C'mon!"
I nodded quickly, and jumped away, holding Suta-. "Hey, big guy! Got a present for ya!" Tsunaro said and shot the energy at the demon. It caused an explosion that probably shook the entire forest.
He yelled, falling on the ground. "Tsunaro! Are you okay?" I asked, running to him. "Haven't, been better."
I looked around at the disaster he had caused. "Are you insane or what?!" I screamed at him. "I'm alright, I already told you, you don't have to wor--"
"I don't mean that! I meant the forest! You caused a whole racket here!" I screamed. "...That's what worries you?" He asked me. "Well, yeah. What else?"
I looked at Suta- and put my jacket on her. "Here, wear this. It'd be kind of awkward if you went around naked" I said. "Says the guy who grabbed her around, carrying her here and there?"
"I did so because I had no other choice!" I said. "Yeah, right. So you're having your little fun with the unicorn?" He asked; I punched him.
She was playing around with the zipper of my jacket. The color of my eyes and hair changed to gray. "Now there, you better keep that zipped, Suta-. It's getting cold already."
I got her on my back. "Aren't you being a little nice?" Tsunaro teased, smirking. "Will you shut up?! We need to be careful with her."
I turned to Suta-. "I'm Takeru. Takeru Sakane. Now, don't you worry about a thing, kid. I will protect you no matter what. I promise" I said, slightly blushed. She nodded a little.
"She's shaking. Hey, calm down, okay? Everything's gonna be fine now" I told her. The ground began to shake.
"What now...?" I asked, annoyed. "Bad news, Bro. The demon's back!" Tsunaro said. I turned back, glaring at the demon.
The demon ran at us really fast. Then it shot hard and thick chains at us. I jumped out of the way quickly.
Tsunaro ran to it, but this time it hit him away. "Tsunaro!" I screamed, jumping back, growling as I glared at the filthy demon. But it smashed me against a tree so hard, before I could see anything coming.
"T-Takeru!" Suta- said, looking at me. I trembled in pain, looking up at her. The demon roared.
"S-Suta-" I whispered. "Takeru...?" She said. "M-My body's not doing what I'm asking it to...Run..."
She shook her head. "No...!" "Run...Hurry..."
"No, Suta- no leave Takeru!" She said, wrapping her arms around my neck as I groaned, sitting up as I could. I put my head down, trying to move more, but being unable to. The demon wrapped its thick, hard chains around her, pulling her closer to it.
She yelled. "Suta-!" I screamed. "Takeru!!"
I tried to stand up, but it was far too painful. "Takeru, get up!" Tsunaro said, helping me up. "Tsunaro...Go...Help...Suta-..."
"No way! First I get you outta here, she's not worth it!" Tsunaro said, holding me. She yelled again, about to be devoured by the demon. I pushed Tsunaro out of my way, and ran as fast as I could towards the demon, ignoring my burning pain.
"Takeru!" Tsunaro screamed. I raised my hand, causing the demon's arm to burst off. She yelled, falling once she was released.
"Suta-, I got you!" I said, running to her. I jumped high, catching her. "Suta-, are you okay?"
She nodded, gasping and clinging closer to me when the demon came again. I pushed her behind me, creating a wave of dark pulse that pushed the demon back. I grunted, falling on my knees, panting.
"Takeru!" She said, kneeling beside me. Damn. I promised I'd protect her...! I thought as I winced from the intense pain. I saw the demon glaring at me, and stood up.
I deflected its fire balls easily, shooting dark energy at it. But then it wrapped me in its chains, tossing me into the air. "Takeru!"
I opened my eyes, and saw it coming. Then it tackled me to the ground, making me hit it twice as hard as I was gonna hit it. "Takeru!!"
The demon came closer, and closer. But I could hardly see a thing. Damn.
So much for a protector, I thought, chuckling as I grew weaker and weaker. But then...When Suta- yelled my name...
I felt different; stronger. I opened my eyes; they were red now, glowing brighter than ever. I smirked wickedly, and as I stood up, I laughed coldly.
"I love destroying filthy demons like you..." I hissed, still smirking. "Takeru...?" Suta- said. I never thought he'd get so close to his true form...That demon's as good as over already...
He took Suta-. "No! Me no want leave Takeru!" She said, trying to get free from him. "He'll be fine now! Don't be stupid, he's doing this to protect you! He'll survive this, trust me!"
I raised my hands, creating a red blast of hell fire, chuckling. Then I shot it, running swiftly to the demon, slashing it to pieces before my blast hit. Then I landed on the ground once it was over.
What's wrong with me? I've never has this kind of power. My true form...? I thought as I changed back, groaning slightly. I hardly noticed when the ground crumbled down beneath me, and when I was falling down to the lake. I was too exhausted to notice.
I was also thinking about what would happen to Suta-, to Tsunaro, and what would be of my plans. I believe I sunk into darkness after that thought. Nothing but utter darkness.
